Overview

Dr. Mauro received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University. He earned his master’s and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.   He joined the Duke University Medical Center faculty after completing the psychology internship program at Duke.  He has been a certified cognitive behavioral therapist (CBT) on a number of NIMH funded clinical trials and was the CBT Supervisor for The Child and Adolescent Anxiety Multimodal Treatment Study (CAMS) at Duke University.  Dr. Mauro has had a number of teaching and leadership roles in the department.   Since 2003, he has been Director of the Psychosocial Treatment Clinic where he supervises and trains graduate students, psychology interns, and child psychiatry fellows on evidence based practice for children and adolescents.  Since July 1, 2016, he has directed the APA Accredited Pre-doctoral Psychology Internship Program .  This nationally recognized program provides doctoral-level internship training in the essential skill areas of Clinical Psychology.
