Overview


Development and investigation of cognitive-behavioral interventions, alone and in combination with medication,for the treatment of adolescent major depression and substance abuse. Treatment outcome in large multi-site trials and in community care settings. Translation of efficacious treatments into community settings, such as brief motivational interviewing and CBT for teen and young adult substance abuse. We have written and tested the manuals for CBT in the Treatment for Adolescents with Depression Study (TADS)and contributed to those for the Treatment of Adolescent Suicide Attempters Study (TASA).

Cognitive and behavioral processes contributing to adolescent depression, including attributions, self-perceptions, and coping responses.
