How has being a P&N graduate helped shape your professional success?

The experiences and opportunities I had at Duke definitely shaped my professional trajectory. With the certificate in college teaching program and the excellent mentoring from my PhD advisor, I felt well equipped to go into my postdoc and confident to apply for top liberal arts college positions.  The work ethic encouraged by my lab and the program in general, as well as the way in which the program is setup to promote productivity gave me a strong foundation on which to build my academic career.  Specifically, encouragement to collaborate with others, encouragement to turn program milestones into publications, and encouragement to pursue my interests in teaching really helped me develp as both a scholar and a teacher.
