How has being a P&N graduate helped shape your professional success?
Being a Psychology major at Duke made me seriously consider taking up research as a career, and started me up with practical skills (how to collect and analyze fMRI data) that really kickstarted that journey.
What advice would you give students in Psychology?
If you want to go into academia, get a few really honest evaluations about your chances of succeeding -- it's a cutthroat field, and very few make it to those coveted tenure-track positions. But if you love Psychology, go and study it anyway -- there are lots of other opportunities now in industry and public service for people with those skills.
