How has being a P&N graduate helped shape your professional success?

Being a Psychology graduate from Duke has definitely shaped my professional success. The top-notch training I received, starting from my first semester as a freshman, helped me define my own interests and shape my passions into a rewarding and profitable career.

What advice would you give students in Psychology?

To aspiring Psychology students, I would say follow your interests and desires. My first class in Social and Personality Psychology had me talking about it non-stop to my fellow freshmen hallmates well into the night -- that's how I knew I had found something that was actually interesting to *me,* and not something that I was "supposed to" be interested in. It took me awhile to realize that I didn't have to be on the pre-med track in order to do well professionally or financially, but I wouldn't have discovered that had I not been so carefully listening to my intuitive compass. Don't limit yourself just because all your friends are pre-law or pre-business or pre-med. Take as many classes in different areas as you'd like.
