An accessible introduction to scientific and applied psychology. Designed for students of all backgrounds, it explores how psychological processes are shaped by biological and evolutionary foundations as well as social and cultural contexts. Students develop core concepts, apply psychology to everyday life and social issues, and build critical and scientific thinking through a mentored research project. A required discussion component emphasizes collaborative thinking in small learning communities. The course provides a foundation for psychology majors and minors, but also serves all students as part of a liberal arts education. Students also participate in psychological research.
