The interplay of psychological, social, cultural and biological factors in health and disease prevention. Major topics include psychosocial and contextual influences on health and behavior; the design and evaluation of individual treatments and population interventions; stress and coping; psychosocial impacts of disease on patients and families. Emphasis on theory, research design, and causal inference. Students should have basic understanding of social science research methods. One course.
