Understanding the Neuroscience of Implicit Bias

Speaker(s)

Damian Stanley, PhD, Adelphi University

Damian Stanley, PhD, Psychology, Adelphi University. Humans are social creatures. When we know little about a person, we often rely on past experience, social norms, and biases about a social group to inform guesses about how a new person may act. Dr. Stanley will provide an interactive and engaging discussion about the science of implicit bias. He uses multiple methods and approaches drawing from social and clinical psychology, neuroeconomics, computational modeling, and cognitive neuroscience to study the mechanisms by which we learn about and interact with others.
