Occupational Summary
We are seeking a full-time Clinical Research Specialist, Senior (CRS, Sr.) to work on two longitudinal NIH-funded studies that examine neurobehavioral outcomes in HIV infection and chronic marijuana use. The research assistant will conduct activities to support data collection, and will have the opportunity to engage in a wide array of research methods relevant to patient-oriented research. The research assistant will devote a substantial portion of their effort to recruitment, assessment (including facilitation of MRI scans, administration of structured interviews, neuropsychological testing, and urine drug screening), and data processing.
Work Performed
Responsibilities include: recruitment, scheduling, and tracking of participants (20%); data collection (60%); data processing (10%); and other relevant administrative tasks (10%). The proposed start date is Spring/Summer 2021. We are looking for a candidate who is able to make a 2-year commitment to the position. The position is located at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree and some previous clinical research experience are required. A background in psychology, neuroscience, and/or biology is preferred.

The successful applicant must be motivated, reliable, and mature, able to multi-task and learn new tasks quickly, and have strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Most importantly, they must be highly respectful of and feel comfortable working with diverse populations, including persons who use drugs, gay men and women, ethnic minorities, and individuals with criminal histories. The research assistant will be expected to complete tasks independently and to work closely as part of our research team. Proficiency in Word and Excel is required. Experience with phlebotomy is ideal but not required.
