Community Manager Position @ Vassar College, Poughkeepsie NY

The de Leeuw Lab at Vassar College is seeking a full-time Community Manager to support the development of an NSF-funded open-source ecosystem for behavioral experiments. The ecosystem is built around jsPsych, a JavaScript library for building behavioral experiments. The Community Manager’s primary role will be to work with software users and developers to support the growth of the ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize hackathons, both in-person and virtual
  • Conduct community outreach including interviewing users to identify areas of need, writing updates about the project and creating a project roadmap to inform the community about planned changes.
  • Conduct sustainability evaluations of the community and report the results
  • Create and facilitate policy changes to improve the security of the software.
  • Write new documentation and tutorials.
  • Provide support on community discussion spaces, and assist with community governance.
  • Work on experiment template development.
  • Supervise undergraduate students.
  • Test new development tools.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Undergraduate degree in cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, economics, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting behavioral research, especially in an online format.
  • Ability to work in small teams and communicate with a wide range of community members.

Preferred 

  • Experience working with jsPsych.
  • Programming experience in JavaScript or another language.
  • Experience using GitHub.
  • Experience in an organizational or leadership role.
