The Women and Children’s Health and Well-Being Project at Chapman University is seeking a full-time research assistant to work on a new California state-funded research study on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in Orange County. This project seeks to 1) understand the degree to which ACEs influence children’s neurodevelopment; and 2) identify a marker that can predict a child’s level of resilience, so that targeted interventions can be delivered to children who need them most. Notably, the health burden of ACEs is not equally distributed, with greater risk of exposure among low socioeconomic and racial/ethnic minority communities.
Our project draws on interdisciplinary expertise in brain development, emotional health, health disparities, community engagement, epigenetics, big data, and data-base design and sharing. This study is a collaboration between University of California Irvine, Children’s Hospital Orange County (CHOC), and Chapman University. Employment will be through Chapman University under the supervision of Dr. Laura Glynn (study PI).
Responsibilities will include recruitment and assessment of mothers and infants (ages 1 month – 2 years) at CHOC and Chapman University, building and maintaining participant and collaborator partnerships, overseeing IRB protocols, consenting participants, conducting standardized interviews and developmental assessments, and collecting saliva samples.
