Lab Coordinator Position @ UC Davis Cognition in Context Lab,

The Center for Mind and Brain at the University of California, Davis is seeking a full-time Lab Coordinator Junior Specialist to work with Professor Yuko Munakata beginning Summer 2026 (start date flexible). This 1–2 year position offers the opportunity to contribute to research on the development of executive functioning in children, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding.

Job Description:

The Junior Specialist will work closely with the PI, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers to participate in all aspects of research on executive function development. The position includes research design, data collection and analysis, dissemination of findings, lab coordination, and mentorship of undergraduate research assistants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to research design, stimulus creation, data analysis, and interpretation
• Collaborate on experimental procedures and new study development
• Assist with dissemination of research through conference presentations, publications, and grant-related materials
• Participate in and lead discussions of relevant research literature
• Recruit, train, and mentor undergraduate research assistants
• Test child and adult participants using behavioral, eye-tracking, and brain imaging methods
• Consent and interview participants and caregivers
• Maintain IRB materials and ensure regulatory compliance
• Manage lab budgets, order supplies, and support administrative lab operations
• Support outreach and community partnership efforts related to research activities

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Experience working in a lab or research setting
• Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Drive)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field
• Leadership or managerial experience
• Experience coordinating or collaborating across multiple teams
• Experience creating, adapting, or documenting research protocols
• Experience working with children and families
• Experience with EEG data acquisition and processing
• Experience submitting protocols to an Institutional Review Board (IRB)
• Statistical analysis experience, including use of R
• Web design, social media, or programming experience (e.g., Psychopy, E-Prime, MATLAB)

Salary/Compensation:

• Estimated salary of $55,000 at Step 1
