Research Assistant Position @ Rutgers University Newark, NJ

The Child Study Center at Rutgers University-Newark, (http://www.childstudycenter-rutgers.com/) directed by Dr. Vanessa LoBue seeks a full-time research assistant to work on two new federally funded projects. Start date is flexible, but on or before December 1, 2024 is highly desirable. One project focuses on how children learn about illness transmission, and the other focuses on the natural emotional input infants receive from their environments. 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the organization of the daily operations of the laboratory.
  • Coordinates, directs, and monitors the efforts of undergraduate research assistants.
  • Coordinates participant recruitment.
  • Provides research support preparing manuscripts and gathering reference information and literature.
  • Collects, sorts, processes sample, performs preliminary analysis, and analyzes data.
  • Performs general administrative duties in the laboratory, including record keeping.

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant laboratory technician or research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests, or other technical work may be substituted for the degree.

Preferred

  • Uses Microsoft Office Suite, SPSS statistical software, and knows or will learn all the equipment, software, and specialized materials needed to support the effective and efficient performance of the position.
