Research Study Coordinator (Full‑time) Position @ NIH Baby Toolbox Project, Northwestern University

Northwestern University is seeking a full-time Research Study Coordinator to support two NIH-funded grants focused on the development and dissemination of the NIH Baby Toolbox. This position is based in downtown Chicago and offers opportunities to work directly with infants, toddlers, parents, researchers, and workshop participants while contributing to research dissemination and training efforts.

Job Description:

The Research Study Coordinator will support study implementation, infant and toddler assessment, parent and researcher interviews, training workshop logistics, and development of content for an online training platform. This position includes opportunities for co-authorship on scientific publications and conference presentations. Applicants should be interested in working with young children, collaborating as part of a research team, and working in person three days per week in downtown Chicago. Occasional evening and weekend availability may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess infant and toddler research participants
• Conduct interviews with parents and researchers
• Assist with implementation of new research protocols
• Support logistics and materials for training workshops
• Provide assistance to workshop attendees
• Help develop content for an online training platform
• Lead execution and coordination of biomedical and/or social science research projects
• Ensure study activities are completed according to protocol, including recruitment and eligibility screening
• Obtain informed consent and register participants with appropriate sponsors
• Administer, schedule, and/or score research assessments
• Manage data collection, maintenance, analysis, and evaluation for grants, presentations, and publications
• Ensure accurate database entry and data quality
• Assist the PI with analysis, interpretation, summary materials, tables, figures, reports, and manuscripts
• Order and maintain inventory of study supplies
• Train, assign duties to, supervise, and mentor research staff, students, residents, fellows, and junior coordinators
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social science, health science, or a related field plus at least three years of research study or relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Master’s degree in social science, health science, or a related field plus at least one year of research study or relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Supervisory or project management experience
• Completion of Northwestern University IRB CITI training before interacting with participants, with recertification every three years
• Interest in working with young children and families
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a research team
• Availability to work in person three days per week in downtown Chicago

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with standardized assessments, including the NIH Baby Toolbox or similar assessment platforms (e.g., Mullen, Bayley)
• Experience testing children ages 0–3 years
• Experience working in a developmental research laboratory
• Degree in psychology, child development, or a related field

Salary/Compensation:

• Target hiring range: $51,346 – $64,473 per year
• Final salary will be determined based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment
