Basic Functions: The Research in Implementation Science and Effectiveness (RISE Mental Health) Lab in the Department of Psychology has an opportunity for a full-time research study coordinator supporting multiple dissemination, implementation, and effectiveness studies focused on mental health. The RISE Mental Health lab focuses on evidence-based treatments in mental health, including global studies in low-resource settings and projects focused on evidence-based treatment delivery in Washington State. Research projects include multiple National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded studies on which the lab Director, Shannon Dorsey, is Principal Investigator or a Co-Investigator. Current research projects an NIMH-funded implementation-focused trial of Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in Kenya, with TF-CBT delivered by lay counselors in schools and in the community; a World Health Organization funded study assessing lay counselor skills in mental health therapy, and a Washington State-funded evidence-based training initiative in community mental health. The coordinator will be embedded in all projects and will have opportunities to co-author manuscripts and posters in line with their interests.
Distinguishing Characteristics: The research coordinator will support research activities under the direction of the lab Director, graduate Research Assistants, and Kenya-based personnel. In this role, the coordinator is expected to support data collection activities, assist in copy editing, use study timeline tracking tools, coordinate with fiscal purchasing and staff, and support graduate student Research Assistants in their research activities.
Typical Work: The research coordinator will collaborate with investigators in two universities and with staff in non-governmental organizations in Kenya and other countries. The research coordinator must be able to communicate and manage their time effectively. Due to time differences in global work, early morning or evening conference calls are required. The coordinator must also be able to provide oversight and mentorship for undergraduates involved in data entry and other lab support tasks (e.g., literature searches, reference section preparation).
