Undergraduate Research Assistant Position @ Duke University, Durham NC

The Social Psychology, Anti-Racism, and Culture Lab (SPARCL) led by Dr. Phia Salter is looking to hire volunteer undergraduate research assistants for the Spring semester in 2026! 

Our lab studies historical racism, historical dynamics of power, and their contemporary consequences for ongoing social inequalities today. Our primary interests of study include Critical Race Psychology (CRP), Cultural Psychology, and Collective Memory as perspectives to disrupting social injustice.
 

SPARCL Undergraduate RA’s may be working on the following tasks in the lab:

• Conducting Literature Reviews
• Qualitative coding of data
• Recruiting and contacting participants via email
• Running studies on Zoom, in lab, or other study sites
• Contributing to survey creation such as reading surveys and making study stimuli

Ideal candidates are attentive to detail, have experience working with diverse racial groups. This is a volunteer research assistantship with work study and class credit opportunities available. Preference is given to sophomores and juniors, and candidates who are willing to make a two-semester commitment to the role.

We require a time commitment of 6 hours/week, scheduled in shifts between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with possibility of scheduling hours outside of a typical Monday-Friday, 9-5 schedule (Note: you will not exceed you committed hours).
