Motives, Goals, and Well-Being

This seminar will examine recent and influential work in social psychology on the nature of goals and the process and consequences of pursuing them. In doing so, we will examine why goals are formed, how they are mentally represented and how they are used for self-regulation. This course will survey recent research and theorizing on the goal concept and explore the role goals play in social behavior, social relations and well-being. Prerequisite: PSY 101.
