Law clerk, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP

Professional Background

After graduating from Duke, I spent a year working for a startup in downtown Durham.  During this time I decided to pursue potential opportunities in law, which led me to Stanford Law School. I graduated this year (2017) and will be starting as a corporate associate at a large law firm based out of San Francisco.

How has being a P&N graduate helped shape your professional success?

The best thing about P&N is that it will be relevant to any career path you may choose.  Duke taught me various explanations as to why people may do what they do and how people can be influenced.  Knowing these basic building blocks of psychology has led me to better appreciate and understand my relationships with coworkers, clients, etc.  But above all else, the support network I developed as a student at Duke has been the most valuable aspect of P&N. The professors are not only the best in their fields, but they're also genuinely nice, supportive people who care about their students and help them reach their personal and professional goals in any way they can.
