The Resilience Project research team in the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience at Duke University seeks highly qualified candidates for a Postdoctoral Associate position beginning July 1, 2018. The Resilience Project, funded by a grant from The Duke Endowment, is a four-institution longitudinal study examining social, academic, and health-related processes across the college years. The project is a collaboration between researchers and practitioners in student and academic affairs, with the goal of using research findings to inform the development of practices to promote resilience and well-being in college and beyond.
Data collection will be almost entirely completed by June 2018, and the research team seeks a motivated individual with excellent writing and quantitative skills to analyze project data and co-author manuscripts for publication. The successful applicant will have interests and expertise complementary to project investigators at Duke, including, but not limited to (1) self-control and self-regulation, (2) self and identity, (3) friendship, (4) faculty–student relationships, (5) academic motivation and engagement, and (6) processes that underlie academic, social, and psychological well-being. In addition to conducting analyses, the Postdoctoral Associate will co-author manuscripts for publication and work with project team members to report findings to collaborators in student and academic affairs and to the funding agency.
Qualifications:
· Ph.D. in developmental, social, educational, or clinical psychology or related field with well-developed research expertise and interests connected to the foci of the project
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially with regard to scientific writing
· Strong quantitative skills (including familiarity with data management and strong data analysis skills, especially longitudinal data analysis; proficiency in SAS is a plus)
· Excellent interpersonal skills for working collaboratively with researchers and other professionals, including administrators, academic professionals, and practitioners in the field of higher education
