Boston College Infant and Child Cognition Lab - Undergraduate Summer 2021 Internship

Dr. Sara Cordes' Infant and Child Cognition Lab (ICCL), located on the main campus of Boston College, is looking for motivated and reliable undergraduates interested in participating in a paid summer research internship in developmental psychology. This is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable research experience in the field of cognitive development. Research in the lab focuses on how infants, children, and adults track number and other quantities, the acquisition of math and spatial gender stereotypes in school-aged children, as well as how prosocial behavior in preschoolers relates to numerical understanding (for more information, please see our website: https://www.cordeslab.org).

This internship is open to any current undergraduate student and is best suited for students who wish to pursue graduate study in psychology. Students from underrepresented groups (racial or ethnic minorities, first-generation students, and/or military veterans) and/or students attending primarily undergraduate and liberal arts institutions with limited research opportunities will be given preference in the application process.

Each intern will have a primary research project to focus on while assisting with subject recruitment, experimental design and stimulus creation, data collection, and video coding for other on-going studies in the lab. Interns will also attend weekly lab meetings to discuss the relevant literature, theoretical background of our current projects and new research findings, as well as a weekly professional development seminar to learn about applying to graduate school, life in academia, and how to craft a CV/resume. The expectation is that the internship will be held in-person, however we are prepared to conduct it virtually if necessary.

The 10-week summer internship will involve a commitment of 35 hours per week from approximately June 1st to August 6th, 2021 (hours, and start and end dates are flexible). Interns will be paid $13.50 / hour.

To apply, please send your current CV, official or unofficial transcript, and a cover letter describing your interests and experiences to the lab (bccognition@bc.edu) with the subject line: BC ICCL Summer Internship Application, and then complete the online application here: https://forms.gle/7Pvf9QLTw9H4rPdk6. The submission deadline is Sunday, February 7, 2021.
