Clinical Research Data Coordinator Position @ Harvard Medical Center

The Labs of Cognitive Neuroscience at Boston Children’s Hospital are seeking a full-time Clinical Research Data Coordinator to provide data management for multiple dynamic research projects, including The Bucharest Early Intervention Project, Early Institutionalization Intervention Impact Project, and the Emotion Project. From a 20-year-old, high-impact research study to a newly conceptualized project, this position involves overseeing data from multiple types of assessments (e.g., questionnaires, behavioral observations, electrophysiology, MRI, genetic and other biological data) from the stages of data collection to publication across a variety of research questions and scholarly domains. Two of the projects, each involving international data collection, investigate the effects of early adversity; the other project, conducted in our Boston lab, seeks to identify multimodal risk factors, from infancy through adolescence, involved in the development of anxiety. Additionally, the Clinical Research Assistant II will have opportunities to be involved with other high impact multi-national research projects.
Responsibilities

  • Provide data coordination and data management support for Nelson Lab research studies.
  • Create, organize, and maintain study data files.
  • Ensure the reliability and scoring of data, update databases as new data become available, maintain data management protocols, and conduct preliminary data processing
  • Support clinical research reporting (e.g., data submissions to data repositories, annual reports to NIH, IRB)
  • Develop finalized datasets for project staff and collaborators.
  • Interface with the Principal Investigators, project managers and staff, and external collaborators on a routine basis.
  • Lead initiatives to improve accuracy and efficiencies in methods and systems for data organization/documentation, use and management of data, and data accuracy and quality.
  • Ensure data sharing is performed in conformance with established hospital, program, federal, and state policies and procedures.
  • Provide positive and effective data-orientated service to project data users.

Requirements

  • This position is for a minimum of two years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, statistics, or health-sciences related field and a minimum of two or more years of data entry and data coordinator or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent computer skills, including expertise in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Excel), R and/or Python, SPSS, and familiarity with SAS and STATA
  • Experience in formatting and exporting data for statistical analyses
  • Experience in verifying, documenting, and cleaning large data files
  • Commitment to the consistent maintenance, accuracy, and completeness of data
  • Familiarity with best practices for data security
  • High level of motivation, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and well-developed communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and proactively and to utilize internal and external resources to complete tasks
  • Comfortable representing data-related, data management interests in team-wide conversations
  • Proficiency in working in an interdisciplinary team with people from various backgrounds and levels of experience (administrators, researchers, coordinators, etc.)
  • Ability to improve upon data structures and systems under the guidance of PI and Project Managers

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of developmental science and neuroscience
  • Experience with longitudinal datasets and longitudinal study experimental design
  • Experience with reporting on study and/or data performance measures
  • Experience using REDCap
  • Experience working with IRBs and data use agreements (DUAs)
  • Experience providing educational support and training to research investigators and staff
