The Youth Development in Diverse Contexts Lab is looking to hire 1 full-time lab manager reporting directly to and supervised by Dr. Tiffany Yip, the Principal Investigator of a longitudinal NIH grant focused on sleep, health, and academic disparities during the college transition through graduation. This is a 2-year position. Candidates must have a strong interest in young adult development, discrimination, and health disparities. This position is a great opportunity for individuals with a passion for research and who would like full-time research experience prior to enrolling in a doctoral program in development, clinical, counseling psychology or related fields.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Assumes day-to-day management of a NIH-funded grant to conduct a longitudinal study of sleep, health, and academics during the college transition through graduation
o Implementing study procedures
o Data collection and data management – must have experience with data tracking systems
o Construction and maintenance of data collection instruments and protocols (i.e., online Qualtrics surveys, biomarker collection, anthropometric measures, institutional records)
o Manages and tracks participant retention and other study protocols over time
o Hiring, training, and supervising research staff in data collection and data entry
o Directly supervises 5-10 undergraduate research assistants and coordinates 3-4 doctoral students
o Manages recruitment, scheduling and maintaining ongoing communications with participants and University administrators
o Communicates effectively with the Principal Investigator, doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and undergraduate research assistants
o Project administration and operations (i.e., IRB, survey management, lab and project meetings, recruitment, participant payment, project finances, equipment and supply purchasing, participant communication and tracking, etc.…)
o Direct weekly lab meetings
● Manages ongoing funding activities including administrative and research support for grant writing and managing submissions and ongoing reporting requirements
● Opportunities to participate in design and conduct of basic and complex data analyses
● Opportunities to participate in writing, presenting, and submitting research reports to professional conferences and scientific peer-reviewed journals
QUALIFICATIONS:
● M.A. or M.S. is preferred, B.A. or B.S. is minimum in the fields of psychology, education, public health, or relevant social science,
● Applicants must have at least 2 years’ full-time experience with research in a team-based setting, and comfort using research and statistical software and survey platforms
● Demonstrated capacity to:
o Manage a project effectively, efficiently and in an organized manner
o Simultaneously juggle and prioritize multiple competing tasks
o Work efficiently and successfully consider order of operations
o Hire, train, and supervise field research and research administration team
o Attend to detail
o Communicate effectively, professionally, and in a timely manner
o Work effectively in a group-/lab-based environment including with more senior and more junior colleagues
● Able to work independently and responsibly with self-motivation and maturity
