Lab Manager Position@ UCLA Silvers Lab, Los Angeles CA

The Social Affective Neuroscience and Development (SAND) Lab at UCLA (PI: Dr. Jennifer Silvers) is seeking a new lab manager to begin Summer 2025. 

The SAND Lab uses behavioral and cognitive neuroscience methods to understand social and emotional development in children, adolescents, and young adults. A large focus of our current research is on the effects of early caregiving adversity, as well as ongoing social relationships and contexts, on adolescent and young adult neurodevelopment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and conducting research studies. 
  • Overseeing day to day lab operations.
  • Maintaining the lab website and research equipment.
  • Overseeing IRB protocols.
  • Planing and scheduling lab events and research meetings.
  • Help to supervise undergradutae research assistants.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in psychology, psychobiology, neuroscience, cognitive science, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting appropriately and effectively with study participants, some of whom may be psychologically vulnerable due to their age (e.g. children or adolescents) or early experiences, as well as with other laboratory member.
  • Strong prior research experience in cognitive neuroscience or psychology.
  • Strong general computing skills (e.g., use of Microsoft office suite) in both Mac and PC environments.
  • Strong, clear oral and written communication skills that can be used when communicating with participants as well as when writing IRB protocols, correspondence and other professional communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail, particularly as it pertains to organizing and maintaining data and equipment.
  • Statistical background and basic competence in statistical programming (R, SPSS, Matlab).
  • Programming skills in Matlab, Python, EPrime, Psychopy, linux/unix, and shell scripting.

Preferred

  • Prior experience and interest in working with developmental or psychiatric populations. Experience with neuroimaging data acquisition and analysis, particularly with FSL. (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of UCLA procedures and policies for human subjects research, neuroimaging, Environmental Health & Safety, and IRB. (Preferred)
