GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Lab Manager will coordinate and oversee the daily operations of a lab focused on understanding young children’s thinking about the social world (for more information about ongoing research, see: https://isobelheck.weebly.com/). Responsibilities include creating and maintaining systems for participant recruitment and data management; hiring, onboarding, and supervising undergraduate research assistants; coordinating recruitment and testing for both in-person and online research studies with children ages 3 to 12 and adults; developing partnerships with schools, museums, camps, and other community centers; coordinating lab meetings and activities; assisting with data analysis and the preparation of research publications and grants; overseeing lab communications (social media, newsletters, website); purchasing equipment and research supplies; and collaborating with other labs, the University of Rochester IRB, and administrative partners. The Lab Manager will report directly to the PI of the lab and will work closely with the PI to support the launch of a brand-new lab space and research group. This position allows for considerable mentorship and research training and offers opportunities for working on independent research projects, contributing to ongoing research collaborations, and attending or presenting at scientific conferences. The position requires strong organizational, communicative, and interpersonal skills; the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; outstanding attention to detail; and comfort interacting with children, parents, and people from diverse backgrounds.
