Lead Research Specialist Position @ Emory University Department of Psychology

The Lead Research Specialist will assist with data collection as part of a National Institute of Health grant funded study investigating the child microbiome and neurodevelopment. 

The research specialist works in conjunction with the study team and investigators to implement the research protocol. Schedules and tracks research participants. Monitors data collection processes to maintain quality assurance standards. Maintains database for participant tracking and generation of reports. Responsible for collecting, handling, and properly storing biological samples. Performs related responsibilities as needed. 

This position requires that you own a car and drive to participants' homes in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area to drop off and pick up assessment packets and samples. In addition you will be trained to conduct maternal interviews and psychosocial and developmental child assessments in the lab at Emory. Some participant visits may occur on the weekends or evenings. The position will involve administering child developmental measures including autism and language assessments. A degree in Psychology or Child Development or experience with these measures, is highly preferred. Finally, strong interpersonal and communicative skills and cultural-competency are required for this position that involves interaction with African American children and their mothers. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (psychology, nursing, public health or related field) and two years of research experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Some experience with child assessment is strongly preferred. 

Minimum Salary: $41,700 annually
