Postbac Fellowship in Education Research and Action @ University of Notre Dame, CLAD Lab, St. Joseph County, IN

A postbac research position is a full-time, paid, non-degree-granting opportunity for people who aspire to gain entry to a top Ph.D. program. These positions help scholars develop strong research skills while working on projects that advance science and make an impact in the community.

Postbacs in cognitive science, psychology, and education are sometimes offered through specific research labs rather than formal training programs and may be listed under titles such as "lab manager," "lab coordinator," "research assistant," or "research associate." For over 15 years, the CLAD Lab has supported postbacs in such roles, with trainees typically serving as lab managers or research associates for two years before advancing to top Ph.D. programs in psychology, human development, cognitive science, or the learning sciences. The ERA Fellowship builds on this tradition by establishing a formal training program with leading researchers in interdisciplinary educational research and action across the university, with a recurring application process each year. Fellows will receive mentorship from scholars with diverse expertise, participate in advanced training, and have opportunities to disseminate their research through conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
