Job Description

The Seguimos Avanzando team at the Shaw Center for Children and Families is conducting a new and unique study on the mental health of Mexican-origin youth in the Michiana area. We need your project management skills to make this program a success! Work with a team that includes faculty from Harvard and Fordham University to recruit and maintain relationships with participating families, develop and implement standardized protocols, and train and supervise a team of interviewers. Your skills will help us uncover how Mexican-origin families are coping with the challenges they face in their everyday lives.
More specifically, in this role you will coordinate research activities for a project on the mental health of Mexican-origin youth and contribute to the intellectual leadership of the project. Responsibilities include: recruiting Mexican-origin youth and their parents from the South Bend region; training and supervising assessment coordinators and other staff as assigned; scheduling and conducting assessments; participating in research meetings; monitoring complex project and laboratory activities; and preparing reports for project leadership. This is a grant-funded position with approximately 3 1/2 years of funding at the Shaw Center for Children and Families. The ability to speak fluently in English and Spanish and to accommodate a flexible schedule is critical. Since parents work, and 12-15 year olds have school, we do need to schedule them in the evenings and weekends, so this will be a part of your work week.

The Shaw Center for Children and Families has been making a positive impact on our community for over 20 years. It is a supportive and fun work environment with people who understand how to get the job done! When you join the Avanzando team, you are also joining the entire Shaw Center team, and it truly is a great place to work!
If you have the organizational skills to lead a project and the patience and empathy to work with families, please apply! You will be part of a team that is making a difference in our community!
