Research Assistant Position @ Washington State University

The IMPACT (IMproving Prevention through ACTion) Research Lab in the College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Resources (CAHNRS) has an immediate opening for a Research Assistant to work with an interdisciplinary team on a project identifying and measuring community factors for reducing childhood adversity.

Location: Pullman, Washington (Open to Remote Work)

Appointment duration: October 2023 to May 2023.

Appointment type: Temporary  

Hours per week: 15-20 hours per week

Hourly rate: $18.07

Position Description: The Research Assistant will assist in various project-related tasks including the following:

  • Conduct a literature search, review articles, and summarize articles related to community factors which affect childhood adversity.
  • Update an annotated bibliography, including a narrative of key findings.
  • Collect and analyze qualitative data. 
  • Draft and edit sections of project reports.
  • Create content and visuals for reports and presentations to communicate research findings to multiple stakeholder groups (e.g., prevention providers, community members, advisory board members).
  • Foster collaborations with funders, partners, collaborators, and community members.
  • Other duties as required.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Prevention Science, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, Human Development or closely related fields.
  • Ability to meet frequent and multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with staff in different geographic locations and with a range of education and experience levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or current graduate student in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Prevention Science, Implementation Science, Human Development, or closely related fields of study.
  • Content knowledge and professional experience in prevention science or public health
  • Experience with grant writing and scholarly writing 
  • Familiarity with risk and protective factors framework.
  • Experience in or familiarity with research on childhood adversity.
  • Experience in or familiarity with quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Proficiency in the use of citation management software such as Zotero, Mendeley.
