Research Associate Position @ University of Maryland

The Child Development Laboratory (CDL) at the University of Maryland, College Park, (http://www.cdl.umd.edu) is searching for a research associate to work on the HBCD, Healthy Brain and Cognitive Development study, a national study recruiting women during pregnancy and following them and their infants through the first five years of the child’s life. https://heal.nih.gov/research/infants-and-children/healthy-brain


The position is to begin Spring or Summer of 2024 and is for two years, with the possibility of an extension depending on grant funding. The CDL has many years of experience hiring individuals who have completed their BA and are looking for research experience before going on to graduate or other professional training.


One of the foci of the HBCD study is examining brain and behavioral development over the longitudinal course of the HBCD study, including fMRI and EEG. We are looking for someone to work with our team on the oversight and quality control of brain electrical activity that is being collected at HBCD sites around the country. This person would also be involved in acquisition of EEG  at the University of Maryland site. 
 

Position qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or Masters in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, or Computer Science
  • Strong experimental and statistical skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment on multiple tasks and projects and to share one’s expertise with and train others.
  • Experience with software programs (MATLAB, EEGLAB or other relevant programs), programming tasks (E-prime, Presentation), and statistical analysis (R) is highly desired as is experience with EGI high density EEG acquisition.
