Research Lab Technician II Position @ University of Southern California

This is one-year fixed term benefits-eligible position (with the possibility for extension) at 80% effort or 32 hours per week.  

The Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy is seeking a Research Lab Technician II to assist in providing support in the Learning, Development, and Rehabilitation Laboratory directed by Dr. Kari Kretch.  Research in the lab focuses on understanding perceptual-motor skills and processes of developmental change in infants with typical and atypical motor development, and on developing interventions that promote exploration, learning and global development in children with neurodevelopmental conditions like cerebral palsy and Down Syndrome. Our work is highly interdisciplinary and integrates developmental psychology, movement science, and rehabilitation science. The lab is committed to maintaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment and to promoting scientific careers of individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities. 

Responsibilities include:
• Overseeing day-to-day lab operations (managing schedules, ordering supplies, supervising research assistants, etc.)
• Managing participant recruitment and scheduling
• Collecting data with infants and families in home, lab, and virtual settings
• Performing behavioral coding of video data
• Contributing to scientific presentations and publications as appropriate

Minimum qualifications include:
• Excellent organizational and communication skills and attention to detail
• Bachelor’s degree (ideally in psychology, kinesiology/movement science, child development, cognitive science, neuroscience, exercise science, or a related field, but all academic backgrounds will be considered)
• Valid US driver’s license, access to a car, and ability to drive to in-home data collections in the Los Angeles area
• Basic computer skills (MacOS, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software) and interest in learning new technologies

Preferred (not required) qualifications include:
• Experience working with infants and young children
• Research experience with human subjects
• Bilingual English/Spanish

Minimum Education: Associate's degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 2 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
