Two Research Assistant Positions @ WashU

Our lab at Washington University School of Medicine is launching several new studies at the intersection of cognitive development and clinical psychopathology and has two full-time positions available. One is ideal for a recent or upcoming graduate; the other aimed at someone with experience conducting child clinical interviews. Please share with potential candidates. 

The first position is ideal for someone wanting additional research experience before pursuing an advanced degree in developmental or clinical psychology or neuroscience. The research assistant will have ample opportunity to learn new research techniques, develop their own projects, and contribute to publications in a highly collaborative environment with a diverse set of PI's.

Position 1: JR65715

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree or four years of relevant experience (Spring 2022 graduates may apply!).

Position Summary

Position will assist study coordinators in numerous phases of the Big Doors Study (investigating monetary and social reward responsivity in 7- and 8-year-old children) and the NOA (Neurodevelopment of Overcontrol and Anxiety) Study. Main responsibilities include: administering EEG/ERPs to child participants (ages 4-8); administering child behavioral assessments; collecting hair and dried bloodspot samples from participants following established protocols for hormone assay, and assisting with screening, scheduling, and organizational tasks. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and a minimum of two Saturdays per month.

Position 2: JR65717

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or a related field plus three years of relevant experience or a combination of work and education equaling seven years may substitute for this requirement.

Position Summary

This position will be involved with the launch of the new Suicidal Thoughts and Actions Research in Kids (STARK) Study. Participants ages 4-7 will attend a one- time session, consisting of parent and child clinical interviews and behavioral assessments, a child ERP, and cognitive tasks. This position will also conduct clinical interviews for the Neurodevelopment of Overcontrol and Anxiety (NOA) study and PED-SI (Mood, Emotion, and Stress in Youth) study. Some evening and Saturday availability is required for this position. This position also requires occasional travel to mental health clinics, school, and community events to assist in recruiting families and sharing research findings with the community.
